Abstract:
Dr. Jack Wertheimer contends that the leadership structure of the American Jewish community has moved from a fairly integrated state to one characterized by fragmentation. He discusses organizations which had been previously cited as leading forces in the community, and whose power and influence have now waned. He further discusses ills facing the major religious denominations. Much of the energy in the Jewish community is coming from local and grassroots organizations serving young Jews, Wertheimer asserts.
