Abstract:

The author examines the process whereby Jewish immigrants to Montreal are integrated into Jewish Canadian society, and Canadian society at large, in order to draw lessons about the integration of immigrants in general. He questions the very concept of "immigrant integration", as well as the idea of "ethnic match" (the assumption that clients of a certain group are always best served by service providers who are members of that group, working for organizations funded or owned by that group).
