Abstract:
This issue of Contact explores issues of American Jewish demographics. Dr. Jack Wertheimer discusses Jewish philanthropic giving, especially the trend of decreasing gifts to Jewish institutions in favor of greater giving to general causes. Wertheimer argues Jewish donors should reassign their priorities in favor of Jewish causes. Dr. Ira M. Sheskin explores American Jewish demographics on the local level. Ilene C. Vogelstein and Dr. Francine Jacobs advocate universal Jewish early care and education as a solution to the demographic crisis. Also included are articles by Dr. Vivian Klaff and Rabbi Yitz Greenberg.
