Abstract:
The author describes the efforts of one relatively new, egalitarian Conservative synagogue in midwestern United States to encourage greater Shabbat observance in its membership by means of an "Enhancing Shabbat Observance" (ESO) program. The author describes the target congregation, the ESO program's objectives and strategies, the implementation of the program, and results of the program as derived from a survey and interviews with participants. The author describes the program as a success.
