Abstract:
Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, executive vice president of the Orthodox Union, discusses the OU's diverse activities, which include but go far beyond the kosher supervision for which they are primarily known. Other OU activities include strengthening small Jewish communities, consultive services to member synagogues, political advocacy, and various forms of youth outreach. Also discussed are demographic, social and family changes evident in the American Jewish population which affect Jewish life, and the OU's responses to these changes.
