Abstract:
Poor, African-American and Latino children have less access to health care and worse health outcomes than middle-class or non-Hispanic white children. This report from Public/Private Ventures examines five strategies for linking the health and child-care systems in order to improve poor children's health. For each strategy, the authors identify the resources necessary to implement it, its potential to improve children's health and its strengths and disadvantages, including its potential to reach the most vulnerable children. Drawing on interviews with experts in policy, health and child care, the report provides funders and policy makers with a framework for thinking about interventions.
