Abstract:
Congressional action on annual defense authorization and appropriations bills is now in full swing. On June 20, the House passed its version of the FY2006 defense appropriations bill (H.R. 2863) by a vote of 398-19. Earlier, on May 25, the full House passed its version of the FY2006 defense authorization (H.R. 1815), and on May 12, the Senate Armed Services Committee marked up its version of the bill (S. 1042), though floor action has not yet been scheduled. The House has also passed both the Military Quality of Life/Veterans Affairs appropriations bill (H.R. 2528) and the energy and water appropriations bill (H.R. 2419).
