Abstract:
On December 19, 2005, the House agreed to a conference report on S. 1932. However, the Senate amended the report, removing a few provisions as the result of a point of order raised associated with the "Byrd Rule." The amended agreement passed the Senate on December 21, 2005, and was returned to the House for further action. It is expected that the agreement will be taken up in the early part of the session. This report provides a comparison of Medicare, Medicaid and State Child Health Insurance Program provisions contained in the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (S. 1932) as amended and passed by the Senate. The report compares the bill's provisions with current law. This report will be updated.
