Abstract:
Stormwater runoff carries pollutants into lakes and rivers across Wisconsin. To deal with the problem, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has proposed new runoff management rules, setting standards for farmers, agricultural facilities, large construction sites, and developed urban areas. However, as described in Phosphorus in Runoff Pollution in Wisconsin, some of the state's worst runoff problems are not addressed adequately in the new program. The report issues recommendations to make the plan more effective.
