Abstract:
This report informs stakeholders in the South Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia of the economic importance of their child care and early education industry. The report demonstrates that child care and early education industry provides more than 5,400 jobs in South Hampton Roads, and annually generates $206.7 million in gross receipts. The industry supports the local labor force by enabling parents to work, preparing children for kindergarten, and saving taxpayers' money. Based on the findings, it is critically important that the region's child care and early education industry obtain increased investment to ensure that it can offer quality, affordable and accessible programs for all South Hampton Roads families.
