Abstract:
Tuberculosis (TB), malaria, HIV/AIDS, and neglected tropical diseases cause millions of deaths worldwide every year and make millions more seriously ill. New medical interventions are desperately needed for all of these diseases. This brief examines why research on these diseases is severely underfunded and discusses how the U.S. should correct this shortfall.
