Abstract:
Currently, profound disagreements exist among political leaders over the circumstances in which the U.S. armed forces should be used to pursue U.S. policy objectives, and when the costs have become unacceptable. This dissertation addresses the role of casualties in public support for and attitudes toward such military interventions.
