Abstract:
How does the workers' compensation system function? What are the costs of care and is the care high quality? How do employees access the care when they need it? These newly updated fact sheets are intended to inform public discussions about how medical care is provided to injured workers in California. They summarize the key issues relating to the costs and quality of workers' compensation care, describe options for potential system improvement, and present resource information and relevant data concerning system characteristics. Each fact sheet focuses on a key aspect of workers' compensation medical care: system overview, costs, access to care, and quality of care. The fact sheets were developed in conjunction with the California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation.
