Abstract:
An update to NEDLC's 1999 report on the economic impact of child care in Ventura County, this report articulates the benefits of child care in economic development terms and quantifies the ways in which child care is critical to the local County. In Ventura County the child care industry generates $153 million in gross receipts and over 4,700 full-time jobs.
The report demonstrates that child care is a critical component of any comprehensive plan for sustained economic development, and shows that businesses in particular have a vested interested in ensuring that there is a high-quality and affordable local child care system.
