As a new fiscal year begins in most states, at least 20 states have made or proposed budget cuts that threaten vital services for many residents. Targeted areas include:
-Public health: 13 states
-Elderly and disabled services: 6 states
-K-12 education: 10 states
-Colleges and universities: 16 states
-State workforce reductions: 13 states
