Abstract:

An examination of the available options seems to support the contention that there is a more expeditious way in which to meet our nation's energy needs than the one presented by the President. The decontrol of natural gas, oil, and gasoline prices would result in additions to domestic supply far greater than the goals set forth in the President's program, and in a shorter period of time. The actions outlined above would have the added benefit of doing something about the short-term crisis as well as the longrun
problem, rather than merely attempting to share the shortage.
