Abstract:
During the 97th Contress, there has been a serious effort, supported by the Reagan Administration and certain members of the Senate in particular, to amend the Freedom of Information Act so that its original balance can be restored. It appears that this goal will not be realized during this session of Congress; nevertheless, the issues involved are sufficiently important, and the situation created by abuse of FOIA sufficiently menacing to the national interest, to warrant serious examination with a view to corrective action.
