Abstract:
If the U.S. government would allow market forces to operate in agriculture, as the Reagan Administration proposes, resources would be allocated to their most profitable uses, surpluses would be eliminated, and the U.S. would become more competitive in world agrlcultural markets. In addition, government spending for agricultural programs would decline significantly.
