Abstract:

The Reagan Administration has achieved the opportunity to negotiate important trade liberalization by winning agreement for this sixth round of talks. U.S. Trade Representative Clayton Yeutter can be expected to proceed aggressively. Meanwhile, it is up to the U.S. Congress to support these efforts by refraining from any protectionist measures that could jeopardize the free trade opportunities offered by the latest GATT round.
