Abstract:
In light of recent, repeated breaches of U.S. security, the Reagan Administration and Congress must cooperate to crack down on U.S.-based hostile intelligence activities. For too long, the Soviet and other hostile intelligence services have been allowed to use the facilities of the U.N. in New York and other diplomatic and commercial installations in the U.S. as cover for large-scale espionage activities. Although the U.S. has at long last recognized the scope of the problem, and taken some important steps to deal with it, more needs to be done to reduce the danger and enhance the effectiveness of U.S.l counterintelligence.
