This report is a compilation of key design elements and implementation recommendations to help schools create effective performance pay systems. Based on years of experience working in schools and districts, the document is geared to educators, administrators, policymakers and other stakeholders interested in developing and implementing comprehensive teacher compensation reforms. It stresses that compensation reform must be part of a comprehensive reform that includes professional support for teachers, standards-based evaluation of teacher skills, and career advancement opportunities.
