Abstract:
This study examines the broader Jewish environment in which American Jewish schools and educational programs function - what brings Jews to Jewish education, who in the family makes decisions about Jewish education and why, what factors are important to parents in their decision, and what contributes to the impact of Jewish education in a person's life. and the short and long term impact of Jewish education on their lives. It goes on to discuss the policy implications of its findings and poses questions and challenges for policy makers to consider as they work to strengthen Jewish education in their communities.
