Abstract:
No one systematically checked the tzitzit of all marriages and divorces in large Jewish migrations in the past. The Jewish community has historically had a live and let live attitude of benign neglect on these matters, an attitude that is not without its roots in halakhah itself, which can be far more flexible than most people realize.
