Upon the completion of New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg's second term, and after having admitted that he would not seek presidential nominiation, it seems likely that Bloomberg will follow other New York mayors into political oblivion. Historically, New York mayors, though often admired (Koch, La Guardia), do not advance in national politics.
