Abstract:
CGS recently filed an amicus curaie brief in the United States Supreme Court. The brief was filed in support of respondent in McComish v. Bennett. The brief details the many practical, compelling governmental interests furthered by public campaign financing programs. The brief relies on almost 30 years of CGS reports elucidating the beneficial impacts of public campaign financing programs, including reducing actual or apparent corruption, freeing candidates from the burden of private fundraising, and increasing communication between candidates and constituents."
