The paper proposes a series of ten major socio-ideological types in the United States Jewish population. A thorough understanding of the U.S. Jewish population and the application of this understanding to planning for Jewish survival will be enhanced by a systematic consideration of the distinct varieties of Jewishness currently found in the U.S.
