Abstract:

The author draws on traditional Jewish texts to explore occupational values and ethics as applied to the Jewish communal field. He discusses what (according to his interpretation of the selected sources) communal practitioners ought to value, and their responsibilities of office, drawing parallels between modern ideas of professionalism and their counterparts found in Jewish texts.
