Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the prevailing trends and future prospects of the Iranian revolution and evaluate its implications for neighboring countries and the United States. Specifically, this paper will outline various political, ethnic and religious spillover effects of the revolution and assess the
revolution's impact on the Persian Gulf balance of power, U.S. national security interests in the area, and the energy security of Western oil importing states.
